There are two practicing general practitioner doctors in El Pescadero, with offices less than 1 km away. We have our favorite, and he can even make house calls if the situation warrants. Ambulance service is available here, and can provide efficient transportation to the local hospital in Todos Santos or to the much larger facilities in either La Paz or Cabo San Lucas, where it is easier to find English-speaking medical professionals and insurance or credit cards accepted.
We have an industrial-grade fire suppression system that is always ready for use. It features massive plumbing that is connected directly to the pool--a ready store of water, just in case. The area is served by the Bomberos (firefighters) of Todos Santos, who train and respond to emergencies if they are called.
The police force here patrols the area regularly, and we maintain good relations with them. There is an Army checkpoint just north of Todos Santos and a Marine patrol as well that ensures the peace is kept. We have had no issues with "mordida", or bribes being asked. A freindly nod and a wave will usually be all the interaction they require.
